SimplyBe.co.uk Owner’s Sales Rise On Improved Delivery Options

Online and catalogue group N Brown said a series of improvements to its customer delivery options helped increase sales on the final weeks before Christmas.

The company, which owns brands such as Jacamo and Simply Be, said sales jumped 7.2 per cent in the 6 weeks to January 11 and the internet now accounts for 58 per cent of all its revenue.

Sales in the 19 weeks to January 11 increased 5.1 per cent on the same basis. Analysts said the performance was strong amid a difficult clothing market which suffered amid unseasonable weather.

N Brown, which specialises in selling larger sizes, has introduced click and collect to 3,500 locations across the country including ByBox and MyHermes ParcelShop. It extended its final, pre-Christmas deadline to 7pm on December 23 and Next Day delivery counted for 40 per cent of all demand in the pre-Christmas week.

The company said: 'We expect online penetration to continue to increase steadily as we implement additional planned improvements to our customers' online experience, build the usage of click and collect for order fulfilment and shorten customer order times still further.'

Angela Spindler, N Brown chief executive, said: 'We have continued to deliver robust, reliable growth whilst stepping up investment in our multichannel, international future. Having been with the business now for six months, I am even more convinced of its substantial long-term growth potential. We are applying the group's unique skills in larger size fashion through a range of increasingly distinctive, relevant, contemporary brands across a broader base of customers and channels. We are only at the start of grasping this opportunity.'
