The online sex toy firm Lovehoney said December sales increased 45 per cent, boosted by an exclusive range of Fifty Shades of Grey merchandise.
The privately-owned retailer said sales in its financial year to March 31 increased 51 per cent to £23.6 million over the year while profit trebled from £750,000 to £2.25 million.
Sales were boosted by demand both at home and abroad as well as the range based on the best-selling book. It has also introduced its sex toys to high street chemist Boots, according to the Guardian website.
Co-founder Neal Slateford told the Bath Chronicle: 'We have plans to take this offering to a large number of international markets, starting with France and Germany.
He added: 'We have captured a significant number of new customers this year with our TV advertising campaign and we have the most incredible community of loyal Lovehoney customers. Using their feedback, we continue to respond to customer demands by innovating both on our website and with our product range.'
Lovehoney hit TV screens last month when the firm launched its first Christmas advert campaign.
