John Lewis Online Revenue Rises More Than A Third In January Sale

Sales through John Lewis' website grew at the fastest rate since Black Friday after it began its Clearance Sale.

The company said internet sales increased 34.4 per cent in the week to Saturday January 4 compared to the same week a year earlier. That was almost as fast as the 35.7 per cent achieved during its Black Friday promotional event over the last week in November.

The company described the growth as 'outstanding' and helped total sales at the department store business rise 23.6 per cent during the week.

'Or performance over the peak trading weeks has been strong with many commentators attributing that to our omni-channel strategy, building on the 61.8 per cent increase in Click & Collect orders we saw over peak trading period,' John Lewis said.

Internet sales at John Lewis have risen by 21.1 per cent in the 23 weeks to January 4, according to the statement.
