Online personal shopping start-up Thread has secured £1.6 million funding from 16 individual investors including Lovefilm co-founder William Reeve.
Other investors in the site, which went live last month, include Bebo.com co-founder William Birch and former Warner Music CEO Edgar Bronfman Jr.
Thread, whose partners also include Ben Philips and Ben Kucsan, receives a fee each time a sale is made on the site and has already teamed up with retailers such as Urban Outfitters and Liberty.
Founder Kieran O’Neill, 26, told The Sunday Times: 'We were lucky with the people and the amount raised in the first round.' He plans to invest the money hiring style advisers for the office in Shoreditch in east London.
Thread is O'Neill's third venture after starting a video-sharing website at 15 and a gamers social network site called Playfire - both of which he sold.
