Beer Marketplace Eebria.com Almost Doubling In Size Each Month

A marketplace for craft beers has attracted 30 brewers since it launched in August and is growing rapidly month-on-month.

Eebria.com lists the beers and takes orders from shoppers which are then dispatched by the producers.

Founder David Jackson told The Mail On Sunday: 'I saw there was a real craft alcohol boom going on around the country with lots of tiny breweries opening. The problem [for them] was getting the message out there as most had little resource for marketing and distribution.'

In a separate interview, he told the Telegraph: 'The producers love us because they control how the beer is stored and treated right until it is sent out. This means it's at its best when it reaches the consumer.'

Sales grew 80 per cent month-on-month in October, 92 per cent in November and by a similar rate in December it told the newspaper.

Eebria is Esperanto for 'tipsy', chosen because the site has international plans and Jackson wants overseas shoppers to be able to pronounce the name. The company is based in New Cross, southeast London and charges 10-25 per cent of the sale price which Jackson says is better than any wholesale deals the producers could get.
