Loaf.com Targets London For Its 'Loaf Shacks'

Internet retail phenomenon Loaf.com says it is targeting London for its bricks and mortar stores as it seeks to capitalise on its rapid growth in popularity.

The furniture retailer's founder Charlie Marshall said he will focus on possible outlets for its Lof Shack concept in the capital and the South East before examining opportunities in the rest of the country, according to a report yesterday.

Loaf wants to increase sales to £100 million in the coming years from an expected £20 million this year. Marshall said he wants to extend the offer to include children's bedrooms, while expanding its kitchen products and bathrooms ranges.

Loaf employs 40 staff at its headquarters in West London and last month attracted investment from Monsoon founder Peter Simon - whose head office in Holland Part is about a mile away from Loaf's.

Marshall initially sold 12 styles of bed on his site after becoming frustrated during an attempt to buy one for himself several years ago. He previously set up Primal Soup, a supplier to sandwich chain Pret à Manger.
