Parcel delivery firm Hermes is planning to launch Sunday delivery to allow online shoppers to order and receive goods seven days a week.
The firm claims to be first UK delivery carrier to offer the Sunday service which it says will allow shoppers at some retailers to order late on Saturday night and receive their goods the next day.
Hermes UK chief executive Carole Woodhead said: 'The retail sector has been trading seven days a week for a long time now and by introducing this service we are giving online shoppers the same service.'
'We recently commissioned some independent research that found two thirds of online shoppers found Sunday deliveries appealing. Quite simply it fits around their increasingly busy lifestyles and is often a day they can guarantee being at home.'
Woodhead said the service would increase the 'first-time' delivery success rate and improve customer satisfaction.
Hermes has also been growing its collect-in-shop service via its myHermes ParcelShop network which now totals 3,500 and will increase to 5,000 this year.
