Comment: AO.com, Boohoo.com and Missguided.co.uk: the Online Retail Stars Of 2013

Last year was a phenomenal year for internet pureplay businesses and our series of reports managed to pick out several of the most successful UK etailers.

Despite the growing challenge from high street retailers through click and collect models, we still believe the more nimble model of 'pureplay first'-delivery-collection points is structurally more sound than many 'shops first'-delivery-collection from store models.

We examined progress first with our report on AO.com - now preparing for an IPO valuing it at more than £1 billion; then with analysis of the phenomenal Boohoo.com, seeking to emulate Asos with a £500 million stock market listing on Aim; analysis of Missguided.co.uk, whose founders we believe are watching progress at Boohoo very closely; and our report on The Hut Group - which has stumbled but should not be written off and is busy getting back on track.

Over the next few weeks we will kick off with a new raft of reports beginning with Worldstores.co.uk, which, like The Hut Group, is backed by long-time internet investors Balderton Capital.

From there we'll be picking out the the firms that either interest us, are managing to reach scale or are attracting the kind of capital that will make them contenders in the future.
