Ocado Trials Free Wednesday Deliveries

Ocado is trialing free delivery on Wednesday for customers who order over £75.

The test follows a drive by Tesco to lower delivery costs which its multichannel boss Robin Terrell described as the 'number one barrier to shopping online.'

The Ocodo trial has been tested in some areas and is already being rolled out nationally.

'We have made delivery cheaper over the years and will continue to do so,' Ocado finance director Duncan Tatton-Brown told the Grocer magazine. He said Ocado had reduced delivery costs by around 25 per cent over the past three years to an average of £2.50.

Demand for grocery delivery tends to be focused around the weekend.
