Asos founder and chief executive Nick Robertson has split with his wife and is understood to be living separately.
According to The Times newspaper, the split has raised the prospect of a division of Robertson's assets which largely consist of his stake in Asos worth around £250 million.
Friends of of the couple said they were living apart but on civilised terms. They said Robertson and his wife Janine were working to make their marriage work and there were no plans to divorce.
Shares in Asos were hit yesterday after it said it planned to invest more in growth plans, hitting profit forecasts.
Robertson, who has not commented on his relationship, said yesterday he was 'taking the hit' on profits for accelerating growth plans that would put the firm in a better position in the long-term.
