31Dover.com Sells Stake For £1.3 Million

31Dover.com, a website specialising in selling wine and beer, has sold a 35 per cent stake in the business for £1.3 million.

The new investors are understood to be French suppliers with wine-making interests in the Bordeaux region. 31Dover.com is owned by entrepreneurs Jimmy Metta and David Elghanayan.

It is named after the Mayfair office at which the businessmen are based in Dover Street. They also operate the fine wine merchant Vanquish.

The money will be used to support the web site's growth plans and to increase the number of wines, beers and spirits it sells. It hopes to take a bigger slice of the £35 billion UK drinks market.

It is also believed to be considering opportunities to consolidate the fragmented online drinks market in Britain.
