Little Black Dress Secures £300,000 Investment

Fashion website littleblackdress.co.uk, which promotes British designers, has secured £300,000 investment as it seeks to ramp up sales.

Sales at the site are currently around £500,000, according to the Sunday Express, and it sells 80 labels including Reiss and Aftershock London.

'The little black dress, or LBD as it is usually now called, is so flattering it has universal appeal for those going to parties and formal events. It transcends size, age, national boundaries and even recession,' founder David Walter told the newspaper.

The site markets and sells the dresses for a commission and the products are then dispatched directly from the designers.

The money, from angel investors, will be used to increase the ranges, expand overseas and expand the company's own-labels, featuring dresses designed and made in Britain.
