Improved Site For Autumn, Says New Look's Dan West

Fashion giant New Look is planning to relaunch its internet site this Autumn with a series of improvements to capitalise on its recent rapid online growth.

Chief information officer Dan West told Computer Weekly he wants to offer 'an omnichannel, seamless, retail experience between online and in-store' to make the chain a 'true multichannel retailer.'

The retailer has already introduced click and collect and a more recently a service allowing shoppers to order in store.

West said: 'In the next few months, we will have an improved customer experience online, more payment channels, greater personalisation and a much better mobile commerce capability.'

Other initiatives include plans to better mine customer data to get a 'better view of the customer' and an 18 to 24 month project to improve or replace various existing platforms and systems, mainly supplied by Oracle and managed by Accenture. Tendering for the project will begin later this year, he told the magazine.

New Look recently said online sales had grown 50.1 per cent year-on-year. Online sales now account for 7.5 per cent of the business.

The growth helped boost total sales at the group by 2.5 per cent to £1.48 billion in the year to March 30. Like-for-like sales in the UK fell 0.5 per cent with sales on that basis in the final six months of the year increasing by 2 per cent.

Computer Weekly said New Look has already used Oracle Endeca tools to improve the relevance of online searches.
