The online pound shop HereForAPound.com has been threatened with legal action by an offline rival for the use of a £1 logo that was deemed too similar.
The online pound store was the first ever to launch and has been seen as a disruptive force in the pound shop world.
But Donna Baker was told by the unnamed rival to stop using the logo. 'The complaint we received was based around branding issues on our website.,' she told the Grocer magazine.
'We could have done without this in our first week but I think it shows big companies are taking us seriously,' she explained.
HereForAPound.com has singled itself out as a female-led pound firm with a better understanding of female shoppers. Three of its five board directors are women.
It is understood that the legal issues have now been resolved.
