Victoria Plumb Snapped Up By TPG In £200 Million Deal

Kitchen and bathroom etailer Victoria Plumb has been acquired by US private equity giant TPG in a deal worth an estimated £200 million.

The etailer has sold a majority stake to the investor which has also previously acquired UK retailers such as Debenhams and fashion store Republic.

The deal is expected to net the founding Walker family millions although it is not year clear how much of the cash will be reinvested.

Victoria Plumb increased sales by more than a third to £26.2 million in the year to February 2013, according to the most recent set of accounts filed at Companies House. Profits increased by more than 20% to £6 million.

In 2010 the family acquired the rights to the MFI name for a reported £250,000 followed by the Focus DIY brand when the home improvement chain collapsed.
