Jaeger has made a raft of new hires to strengthen its e-commerce team following a £7.5 million investment boost last week.
The upmarket clothing retailer has appointed Mothercare’s head of e-commerce Simon Spencelayh to the same role. He will oversee the on-going investment in Jaeger’s mobile and online platforms and drive greater integration between the group’s digital and in-store offer.
Jaeger said Simon had been key to the transformation of Mothercare’s web trading approach and e-commerce profitability.
We reported earlier this week that Mothercare had made some changes to its e-commerce team giving international boss Olga Nazakova responsibility across the group.
Spencelayh, who has also previously worked as Dixons and Amazon, will report to e-commerce and menswear director Caroline Lee. Jaeger has also appointed David Robson as creative digital consultant. He is expected to work closely with Sepncelayh to deliver improvements to the look, feel and functionality of the site.
Robson has worked on ventures in the luxury sector on sites including LN-CC and OKI-NI.
The 63-store Jaeger chain has also appointed Rachel Sullivan, formerly at Conde Nast, Red Magazine and Hearst Magazines Group as e-commerce senior editor to bolster its editorial and social content strategy.
The retailer, which was rescued in 2012 by Jon Moulton’s Better Capital in a deal estimated at £20, last month announced fresh investment. Jaeger said the staff changes will support overall investment programme in its online proposition.
Jaeger chief executive Colin Henry said: 'Jaeger online continues to be a critical area of focus for us as the convergence between out free standing stores and online business continues. Simon, David and Rachel bring a wealth of specialist retail e-commerce expertise to the business and I'm delighted to be working with them as we build our growing online business.'
He added: 'The team, plus the additional investment plans already announced, will ensure a dramatically improved online experience for our consumers.'
